On 5th May 2026, Dr. Santosh Subba from the Department of Education delivered a lecture on the theme “Role of Languages in the NEP 2020” at the Conference Hall of the Science Department. The programme was organised by the Literary Committee, Sikkim Govt. College, Namchi, in collaboration with IQAC.

The participants included 2nd semester students from all language departments, namely English, Nepali, Limboo, Lepcha, and Bhutia. The lecture focused on the significance and importance of languages, especially in the context of the National Education Policy 2020. During the session, emphasis was given to the need for preserving, conserving, and disseminating regional languages.

The programme was fruitful and successful, with active participation from students across all language departments. Sincere cooperation and support were extended by Mr. Y. T. Lepcha from the Department of English, which contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme. Overall, the session was highly meaningful and well received by all participants.
