4 August (IPR): The Viksit Bharat Young Professionals Roundtable was organised by My Bharat Kendra, Namchi, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with Sikkim Government College, Namchi on Tuesday. The programme was held on the theme "Youth in Democracy and Government for Viksit Bharat."
The event brought together young professionals, faculty members, students and youth representatives to discuss the role of youth in strengthening democracy, promoting innovation and contributing towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Chairman of the Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (SIMFED), Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia, attended as the Chief Guest. He highlighted the importance of youth participation, innovation and collective responsibility in nation-building. He also spoke on the vision of the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, emphasising inclusive development, quality education, youth empowerment and sustainable growth. He urged students to stay away from drugs under the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan and assured them of the State Government's continued support for deserving students.
Guest of Honour Sanjay Dilpali Rai, Chairman of the Sikkim Art, Culture and Heritage Development Board (SACHDB), encouraged young people to preserve Sikkim's rich cultural heritage while embracing innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership.
During the panel discussion, Dr. Bitu Subba spoke on "Youth in Democracy and Government for Viksit Bharat," while Dr. Panuongri Palzu highlighted the importance of quality education, innovation, ethical leadership and sustainability in building a developed India.
Kezia Chettri presented various flagship initiatives of the Government of India, including My Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) and the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD), stressing that youth from all academic disciplines can contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members through interactive discussions on youth leadership and democratic participation.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes by District Youth Officer (DYO), Gyalshing, Shri Pradeep Baisla of My Bharat Kendra.
Among those present were Chief Education Officer, Namchi, C. P. Sharma, Vice Principal of College Dr.Sanjay Subba, faculty members, representatives of My Bharat Kendra and students.
