REPORT ON ONE- DAY WORKSHOP ON SCHOLARSHIP FOR SC/ST/OBC/EWS STUDENTS

The Equal Opportunity Cell in collaboration with IQAC Sikkim Government College, Namchi successfully organised a highly informative One-Day Workshop on Scholarship for SC/ST/OB/EWS Students on 23/07/2026 at the college auditorium.

 The target group for the workshop was SC, ST, OBC and EWS students of first semester. Dr. Binita Rai, Assistant Professor Department of Education cum INO Scholarship Sikkim Government College Namchi was invited as the Resource Person for the workshop. Over 341 students, along with faculty, Equal Opportunity Cell members attended the workshop. The aims and objectives of the workshop was 

1.To make them aware about various scholarship scheme.

2.To clarify them about application procedures.

3.To equip them with necessary knowledge, so that they can apply and avail scholarship.

4.To maximize the registration of eligible students for various state and central government financial aid programmes.

The programme started around 11:00 am on 23/07/2026 with the arrival of Resource Persons. Ms. Uden Lhamu Bhutia, Convenor Equal Opportunity Cell welcomed the guest with offering of khada and also delivered welcome address emphasizing education equity. This was followed by session of the resource person Dr.Binita Rai. She kept the students engaged through  her meticulously prepared presentation on various scholarship scheme sponsored by central and state government .Through her presentation she highlighted detailed step-by-step walkthrough of registration on the NSP(National scholarship portal),necessary documents required, clear explanation of income ceilings, minimum marks and reservation rules, checklist of mandatory documents shared and specific guidance on newly updated income certificates for the Economically Weaker Section students .She patiently addressed all students queries .

 As a token of gratitude, convenor on behalf of the Equal Opportunity Cell presented resource persons with certificate. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Dinesh Darnal, co-coordinator of Equal Opportunity Cell and he also rendered his service as the master of ceremonies for the workshop. This was followed by photo session.

 On the whole the workshop was successful, enriching, informative and interactive. Students gained direct clarity on relevant scholarship programmes. The students learned to self-verify documents, drastically minimizing future portal rejection rates. The workshop surely enhance and enrich students’ knowledge on Scholarship, which will enable them to help others students as well.
